American hip-hop legend and billionaire music executive Jay-Z has denied taking sides in the ongoing rivalry between rappers Drake and Kendrick Lamar.
Speaking in a recent interview with GQ, the Roc Nation boss addressed claims that he favoured Kendrick Lamar over Drake when selecting the headliner for the 2025 Super Bowl Halftime Show.

Jay-Z dismissed the speculation, explaining that his decision was based purely on merit and timing.
According to him, Kendrick Lamar stood out at the time because of his strong run in the music industry.
“I chose the guy that was having a monster year,” he said. “It wasn’t in some sort of alliance to a battle.”
