The newly inaugurated Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Bernard Mohammed Doro, has pledged to foster unity and collaboration among all departments under the ministry to better serve Nigerians and achieve the administration’s poverty reduction goals.
In an exclusive interview with The New Daily Prime shortly after his inauguration by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Dr. Doro emphasized the need for synergy, transparency, and efficiency across the ministry’s operations.
“Our vision is enshrined in building a humanitarian ecosystem that is based on transparency and efficiency, with a strong focus on people,” he said. “It’s going to be person-centered. We want to ensure there’s efficiency within the departments, eliminate duplication, and promote synergy across various units. Whatever we do to alleviate poverty must be targeted at the intended audience.”

The minister underscored his commitment to ensuring that Nigerians truly experience the impact of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, noting that all departments and agencies would work collectively to deliver on their mandate.
“It’s time Nigerians feel the essence and work of this ministry,” Doro stated.
President Tinubu administered the oath of office to Dr. Doro at 1:52 p.m. on Thursday inside the Council Chamber of the State House, Abuja, just minutes before the commencement of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting — the first since July 2025.
Thursday’s swearing-in also restored Plateau State’s representation in the federal cabinet, which had been vacant in recent weeks.
Dr. Doro, a UK-trained clinical practitioner and public health administrator, was nominated by President Tinubu on October 21, 2025, to replace Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, who vacated the post after emerging as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on July 31, 2025.
Hailing from Kwall, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State, Dr. Doro brings over two decades of experience in clinical medicine, pharmacy, and IT-driven health systems. He holds degrees in Pharmacy, Law, and Advanced Clinical Practice, and has served extensively in the United Kingdom’s National Health Service (NHS) as an Independent Prescriber and Advanced Clinical Practitioner.
Beyond his medical and administrative achievements, Doro is widely recognized for his commitment to youth mentorship, diaspora engagement, and community service initiatives focused on improving healthcare and education in underserved communities.
