The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that a total of 2,685,725 new voters have so far been registered nationwide through the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, combining both online and physical enrolments.
The latest figures, released on Monday via the commission’s official X handle, show that 1,576,137 applicants completed the online pre-registration process, while an additional 1,109,588 finalised their registration through in-person capture.

Last week, INEC reminded the public that the first quarter of the nationwide CVR will close on 10 December 2025. However, the commission reiterated that the exercise remains suspended in Anambra State due to ongoing “electoral activities”, with a new resumption date to be communicated in due course.
The current CVR exercise began on 18 August 2025 with online pre-registration, followed by physical registration across all 774 local government areas, state offices, and the Federal Capital Territory. INEC described the process as a key part of its preparations for upcoming elections.
In line with Section 19 of the Electoral Act 2022, INEC confirmed that the Display of the Register of Voters for Claims and Objections will take place from 15 to 21 December. The register will be displayed at the local government offices where the registrations occurred.

The commission encouraged citizens—especially those who registered, transferred, or updated their details during the period—to verify their information and file corrections or objections as necessary. Public scrutiny, INEC said, is essential to maintaining the integrity and accuracy of the voter register.
INEC added that the second phase of the CVR will resume on 5 January 2026, in accordance with the earlier timetable.
