The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced an extension of the ongoing collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) in Anambra State, following widespread appeals from citizens and stakeholders for additional time.
In a statement issued on Monday night by the Director of Voter Education and Publicity, Victoria Eta-Messi, the commission confirmed that the exercise, initially set to conclude on Sunday, 26 October, will now continue from Wednesday, 29 October, to Sunday, 2 November 2025.
“The Independent National Electoral Commission has approved the extension of the ongoing collection of Permanent Voter Cards in Anambra State,” Eta-Messi stated.
“The decision was reached at a meeting of the Commission held on Monday, 27 October 2025, following several appeals from citizens and stakeholders requesting additional time to enable eligible voters to collect their cards.”
She explained that the exercise covers individuals who registered during the recent Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise in the state.
INEC urged all registered voters who have not yet collected their PVCs to take advantage of the extended period and visit designated collection centres across Anambra’s 326 registration areas (wards). Eta-Messi further stressed that collection must be done in person, reiterating that “no collection by proxy is allowed.”
The commission expressed gratitude to Anambra residents for their cooperation and enthusiasm, encouraging them to use the opportunity to prepare for the upcoming governorship election scheduled for 8 November 2025.
“INEC appreciates the patience, enthusiasm, and cooperation of the good people of Anambra State and urges all eligible voters to use this opportunity to collect their PVCs and get ready to participate in the forthcoming governorship election,” Eta-Messi added.
Earlier on Monday, INEC had declared Anambra fully prepared for the November poll, following a week-long readiness assessment conducted by a high-level delegation from its headquarters in Abuja.
The delegation, led by the National Commissioner for Election Planning and Monitoring, Professor Rhoda Gumus, included National Commissioners Sam Olumekun, Dr Kenneth Ukeagu, and Dr Baba Bila. The team inspected facilities, logistics, and security arrangements across the state to ensure operational readiness for the election.
