The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun made a historic visit to Asaba, Delta State on Monday as part of his strategic mission to enhance security, operational efficiency, and community partnerships.
During his visit, the IGP met with the Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, at the Government House.
He commended the state government for its unwavering support of the police, particularly the donation of operational vehicles under the Delta State Operation Sweep initiative.
The vehicles were later commissioned by the Egbetokun alongside Governor Oborevwori.
The visit also featured the inauguration of the Police Public Relations Experts Conference, a groundbreaking event designed to improve public engagement strategies and build trust between the Police and the public.

In his address, the IGP emphasised the critical role of effective communication in modern policing and called on participants to leverage the conference to strengthen Police-Community relations.
Egbetokun engaged with key stakeholders, including traditional rulers, community leaders, civil society organizations, and the business community, in a collaborative dialogue to address security concerns and devise tailored solutions for the state.
At the Delta State Police Command Headquarters, Egbetokun commissioned the newly constructed Police Officers Mess, a modern facility aimed at improving officers’ welfare and providing a professional and social hub.
Furthermore, he addressed officers and personnel of the Delta State Command, commending their dedication to maintaining law and order.
He assured them of the Police’s commitment to prioritising their welfare and operational needs while urging them to remain professional and disciplined.

The IGP applauded the collaborative efforts of the Delta State government and its people, emphasising the importance of synergy between the police and the community in achieving lasting peace and security.
