The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has lambasted the renowned lawyer and activist Deji Adeyanju over his criticism of some demolitions in the nation’s capital.
Recall that Adeyanju along with Vincent Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMark on Friday last week led a protest against the FCT Minister over the demolition of Ruga, a settlement along Airport Road, Abuja.
Adeyanju had said, “There is no justification for this demolition,” asking President Bola Tinubu to urgently address the matter.
Reacting, Wike in an interview with selected journalists on Wednesday said Adeyanju was just being jobless.
According to the former governor of Rivers State, he previously turned down the request of the lawyer to be given the role of Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP.)
He said, “I saw one young man, they call him Adeyanju. He is from Kogi State. This young boy came to me that he wants to be the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP and I said no.
“I said he won’t be, and he was not. I have no regret about it. He has suddenly become a civil society activist.
“He has no job and that’s why he decided to turn to a civil society activist.”
