The spokesperson of Anambra State Police Command, Tochukwu Ikenga, on Tuesday revealed the arrest of Ewulu Chikwo, 35, a suspect who was allegedly involved in the murder of a policewoman in 2022.

Ikenga said the criminal attack that led to the gruesome murder of security officer Inspector Stella Maris occurred at Ukpor Divisional Police Headquarters.

The suspect who is a native of Osumoghu Isieke Village, Ihiala Local Government Area (LGA), said to have confessed to the crime and also a member of the Proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

According to the police spokesperson, he said Chikwo was apprehended by the members of Police Operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad/Anti-Kidnapping on 25 April 2025.

However, the security operative, following credible information, launched an attack at the criminal camp located at Ukpor in Anambra State.

“The suspect and his gang members were allegedly planning to enforce an illegal sit-at-home in the area the following Monday,” Ikenga stated.

It was gathered that the Joint Security Force has intensified patrols in the area, “even as the State Police Command has equally assured swift action on any security information, especially as it affects the arrest of other gang members in the area,” the spokesperson added.
