Publisher of the online medium, Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore, was reportedly attacked on Saturday morning by suspected thugs at the Lagos City Marathon.
Sowore, a presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) in the 2023 elections, was reportedly attacked by the thugs alongside crew members of his media outfit, while participating in the marathon.
According to reports, the thugs also attacked some other journalists from various outlets covering the event, with many of them injured and their cameras and other gadgets destroyed and stolen.
In a video seen by NEW DAILY PRIME, the hoodlums could be seen physically assaulting Sowore, his crew members and the journalists.
One of the thugs was seen grabbing the neck of a journalist who was holding his camera.
Some people are insinuating that the journalist-cum-politician’s ordeal coul be as a result of his loud opposition and criticism of the federal goverment being headed by President Bola Tinubu or his ongoing battle with the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, who he has descibed as an ‘illegal IGP”.
