Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, on Sunday held a high-level meeting with top security officials in the state to review the overall security situation and strengthen measures aimed at protecting lives and property as the new year begins.
The meeting, which brought together heads of various security agencies operating in Ogun State, focused on assessing current security realities, identifying emerging threats, and fine-tuning strategies to ensure peace and stability across the state. According to the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on New Media, Ojo Emmanuel, who disclosed details of the meeting in a post on X, discussions centred on intelligence gathering, inter-agency collaboration, and rapid response to security challenges.
Governor Abiodun, also speaking via his verified X handle, said the engagement was part of his administration’s proactive approach to security governance. “As we begin a new year, we met with security chiefs in Ogun State to assess the overall security situation and review issues relating to the safety of lives and property across our state,” he said.
He explained that the security chiefs provided detailed briefings on the current situation in different parts of the state, as well as insights into potential risks and the steps already being taken to address them. According to the governor, the session created an opportunity for frank discussions on how to stay ahead of criminal activities and maintain public safety.
Abiodun emphasised the need to further strengthen intelligence gathering mechanisms, noting that timely and credible intelligence remains critical to preventing crime before it occurs. He also stressed the importance of improved collaboration among security agencies to ensure seamless operations and avoid gaps that criminals could exploit.
“Our focus remains on sustaining peace, preventing crime, and staying ahead of any challenges that may affect our people and communities,” the governor stated.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to security, Abiodun assured residents that safety remains a top priority of his government. He pledged continued support for security agencies through logistics, coordination, and policy backing, adding that a secure environment is essential for economic growth and social development.
“We will continue to support our security agencies and work closely with them to ensure that Ogun State remains safe, stable, and conducive for living, working, and investment under our administration,” he said.
The meeting comes amid ongoing efforts by the Ogun State Government to consolidate peace and reinforce public confidence, particularly as residents and businesses look ahead to the opportunities and challenges of the new year.
