Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has signed the 2024 supplementary budget into law to address the state government’s new financial commitments. 

In a statement, Chief Press Secretary Ebenezer Adeniyan announced that the N96.788 billion supplementary budget, approved by the State House of Assembly, was signed by the Governor on Tuesday at the Executive Council Chambers of the Governor’s Office.

With this addition, the total budget for 2024 stands at N492.045 billion, comprising a recurrent expenditure of N246.728 billion and a capital expenditure of N245.317 billion. 

The supplementary budget includes provisions for the recently approved N73,000 minimum wage for workers and the salaries of newly recruited employees across various sectors.

Governor Aiyedatiwa stated that the supplementary budget underscores his administration’s commitment to employee welfare and the state’s overall development. 

Additionally, he signed a bill expanding the board of the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC), aimed at fostering inclusivity and enhancing equitable representation for mandate areas.

The governor also signed an amendment to the Ondo State House of Assembly Service Commission Law, expressing appreciation to the Assembly’s leadership and members for their dedication to these legislative efforts.

Speaking at the event, Speaker of the House of Assembly, Olamide Oladiji, praised the governor’s leadership and recognised the numerous achievements he has realized since assuming office.

Oladiji said: “These giant strides have not only transformed the State in all facets but have demonstrated your vision, capacity, intellectual ability, zeal, passion, direction and a clear understanding of the enormous job ahead.

“I want to on behalf of my colleagues assure Mr. Governor of our continuous support and cooperation to ensure the success of this administration. It is therefore hoped that the implementation of these Laws will impact meaningfully on the lives of the good people of the State.”
