Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, on Monday presented the staff of office to the newly appointed Oloro of Oro, Oba Joel Oyatoye Titiloye, and the Gbamoyin of Jimba-Oja, Oba Adebayo Olanrewaju Ismail.
The Deputy Governor, Kayode Alabi, who represented the governor at the ceremony, urged the new monarchs to leverage their divinely bestowed positions to foster peace and harmony.
He emphasised the importance of ensuring their subjects actively participate in government programs and policies, which would contribute to the overall development of the state.
Governor AbdulRazaq called on the people of Oro and Jimba-Oja to fully support their newly enthroned leaders, stressing that unity is the foundation for peace, progress, and the socioeconomic growth of Kwara State.
He encouraged the monarchs to build bridges of understanding and foster mutual respect among the diverse groups within their communities. In his closing remarks, he offered prayers for peace, prosperity, and the continued development of the two domains.
In his address, the Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs, and Community Development, Abdullahi Abubakar Bata, praised the Oro and Jimba-Oja kingmakers and their citizens for conducting a peaceful and mature succession process.
He noted that the event further exemplifies the state government’s respect for traditional institutions, allowing the selection of monarchs without interference from the government or external forces.
In his acceptance speech, Oba Joel Oyatoye Titiloye, the newly installed Oloro of Oro, expressed his gratitude to the kingmakers, the people of Oro, and the state government for their confidence in him.
He pledged to rule with a spirit of forgiveness, unity, and progress, committing to resolving misunderstandings and ensuring that all voices in the community are heard.
Similarly, Oba Adebayo Olanrewaju Ismail, the new Gbamoyin of Jimba-Oja, vowed to prioritize service to the people, aiming for the progress and overall development of Jimba-Oja during his reign.
