Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has reaffirmed his commitment to serving the people of the state, expressing gratitude for the overwhelming support he received upon his return to the Government House in Port Harcourt on Friday.
Speaking shortly after his arrival, Fubara addressed supporters and well-wishers who had gathered in large numbers at the Port Harcourt International Airport in Omagwa, Ilwerre Local Government Area, to welcome him back.
“I know everyone wants to hear something from me, in fact, you expected it when I landed at the airport,” the governor said, visibly moved by the show of solidarity.
Describing the warm welcome as humbling, Fubara stated:
“Let me first of all appreciate the wonderful people of Rivers State. I’m really humbled by what I saw at the airport. I was briefed on some photographs of what happened here yesterday. That reception really humbled me.”
He noted that the massive turnout was not just a celebration but a symbolic reaffirmation of the deep bond between his administration and the people it serves.

“It showed love, confidence and solidarity,” he said. “It is not just the celebration, the massive reception by the number of people who came out to celebrate, but the display and reaffirmation of the bond between this government and the people that we are serving.”
Fubara went on to assure the public of his administration’s continued commitment to their welfare:
“I want to assure you that we will, by the grace of God, continue to do those things that have made you people love us. I want to appreciate everyone and to say that we love you, but God loves you more.”
The Governor also disclosed that he would deliver an official statewide broadcast at 6 p.m. on Friday to further express his appreciation to all those who contributed to restoring peace and stability in the state.
“We are going to address the state officially by 6 p.m., and in that broadcast, we will appreciate everyone that brought normalcy to this state,” he concluded.
Fubara’s return comes amid ongoing political tensions in the state, but Friday’s events signal a renewed connection between his leadership and the people of Rivers.
