Nigeria’s former First Lady, Aisha, has appealed to Nigerians to forgive her late husband, ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, for any mistakes he might have made while in office.
The former president, who led Nigeria from 2015 to 2023, died after a brief illness in London on Sunday, at the age of 82.
Speaking shortly after his passing, Aisha said the former president had, on several occasions, asked her to deliver the heartfelt message to Nigerians should he die before her.

She said: “Since he left office, the thing he would often tell me whenever we talked was that if he passed away before me, I should convey his message to Nigerians to forgive him for any mistakes he made during his tenure as a human being prone to errors.
“Therefore, for the sake of Allah, I beg everyone to forgive him before he is taken to his final resting place.”
Buhari is expected to be buried later on Tuesday in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State.
