Not less than five people have been confirmed dead and others hospitalized at the infectious diseases center, Olodo in Egbeda LGA following the ‘Love feast (Ipese)’ planned by a white garment church.

According to The Punch newspaper, It was recorded that the incident happened to occur in the church environment, in Apata Ido LGA has put the entire community in chaos.

However, according to a source that remains anonymous, it was gathered they could not ascertain if it was the ‘Ipese’ that caused the death.
“I ate the same beans that everyone else, including the victims, ate, and nothing happened to me. “It’s not clear that the incident is related to the Ipese, as some people are claiming. Various government agencies, including the police, DSS, media outlets, and even the World Health Organization, have been here to investigate. Their findings haven’t been made public yet, but I can assure you it’s not about Ipese,” he declared.

Furthermore, one of the hospital staff who remains unidentified declared that 50 of the victims were brought to the hospital and were attended to and discharged.
“Some of the affected people were brought here for treatment. So far, 50 have been discharged, while others are still receiving care,” the worker stated.

The spokesman for Oyo state police command, Adewale Osifeso has verified the happening and stated that the investigation is still going on.
