The wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, through the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), has distributed N50,000 grants to 1,000 women petty traders in Kwara State, totalling N50 million, aimed at re-capitalising their existing businesses.
The presentation was made during the inauguration of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA)/RHI Community ICT Centre in Ilorin, the state capital, on Tuesday, January 28.
Senator Tinubu also launched other key projects, including the newly reconstructed Civil Service Clinic, which has been named in honour of the wife of the Kwara State Governor, Olufolake Abdulrazaq.
As part of the RHI Social Investment Programme, she revealed that 250 elderly citizens were granted N200,000 each on 17 December 2024, to mark the festive season.
Additionally, Senator Tinubu highlighted the RHI’s education initiatives, which included a collaboration with the Universal Basic Education Commission to build an Alternative High School for Girls in Kwara.
In the agriculture sector, she announced that women and young farmers in the state would benefit from a N68.9 million Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security support grant, aimed at strengthening agricultural programmes for women and youth.
Olufolake Abdulrazaq, the First Lady of Kwara State, also spoke at the event, emphasising that the ICT centre would provide digital skills to women and youth, positioning them for success in the global digital economy.
She applauded the initiative as a step towards creating a digitally empowered Nigeria, which aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s vision of an inclusive and technology-driven future.
The project is expected to not only empower women and youth but also contribute to improving the livelihoods of Nigeria’s most vulnerable populations, while fostering a technology-enabled future for the country.
