The Federal Government (FG) has inaugurated a Joint Implementation Committee to spearhead the National Conference on Digital Literacy and Emerging Skills.
The initiative, launched in Abuja, is a strategic partnership between the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF) and the Clergywealth Multi-purpose Cooperative Society Limited (CWMSCL).
It aims to empower 1 million Nigerians with globally recognised certifications and cutting-edge tech skills.

Speaking on behalf of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, the Permanent Secretary, General Services Office, Ibrahim Kana, emphasised that this project is the engine room for President Bola Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda “
The goal is ambitious but clear, achieving 95% digital literacy across Nigeria by 2030.
This aligns with the National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy (NDEPS) to ensure no Nigerian is left behind in the global digital race.
The newly formed committee brings together top-tier experts and policymakers from across the nation’s digital and educational sectors.
Key members include the Ministries of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy; Education; Information; and Youth Development, NITDA and TETFund and Clergywealth (CWMSCL) and various NGOs.
The core responsibilities include organising the National Digital Literacy Conference slated for January 28–29, 2026 and overseeing the training and certification of 1,000,000 citizens in emerging technologies like AI, cybersecurity, and remote work tools.
Also, there’ll be the implementation of the Future Proof Economy (FPE) model to ensure training translates into immediate job readiness.
The Deputy Director of CWMSCL, Rosemary Oshikoya, highlighted that while the cooperative provides financial and housing support for the clergy, its “SkillUp Nigeria” initiative is focused on the youth.
“We are equipping 1 million youths for remote work and global opportunities,” Oshikoya stated.
“Successful participants will receive international certifications and personal computers to kickstart their digital careers.”
Beyond digital skills, the project also integrates the Clergywealth Commodity Club (CCC) and Artisan Training School (CATS) to foster holistic community development.

The committee has less than three weeks to finalise the logistics for the January conference, which will serve as the official launchpad for the nationwide training modules.
The FG has clarified that while it provides policy oversight, the programme is fully funded by clergywealth, ensuring zero strain on the national budget.
