Speaking at the event, Akume, represented by the Deputy Director of Public Affairs and Bilateral Relations in his office, Okokon Etoabasi, acknowledged the honour as a testament to the FG’s deep commitment under President Bola Tinubu, towards advancing sustainable development, climate resilience, and green investment throughout the continent.
Akume highlighted that the administration has established a supportive policy and institutional framework to encourage climate action.
This is being driven by the Ministry of Environment, the National Council on Climate Change, and various other relevant Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) through initiatives focused on adaptation, mitigation, green growth, and sustainable infrastructure development.
He also commended ABVIG for creating a vital platform for dialogue and partnership through the Africa Infrastructure and Climate Change Summit, noting that it complements government efforts to mobilize private sector participation, technological innovation, and investment in sustainable development.
Earlier, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of ABVIG, Moses Owharo, expressed gratitude to the SGF for his active participation and technical support, which contributed to the successful hosting of the Africa Infrastructure and Climate Change & Investment Summit 2025 (AICIS) in Abuja.
Owharo stressed that this support underscores the importance of government engagement in providing an enabling environment for implementing climate change solutions.
Owharo also called for increased collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Environment, the National Council on Climate Change (NCCC), and other key stakeholders in the fight against climate change.
He also extended thanks to NDMPRA, NUPRC, the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Defence, and Petroleum Resources, along with various private organizations, for their contributions to AICIS 2025’s success.
