The Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, has launched President Bola Tinubu’s end-of-year food intervention programme aimed at supporting vulnerable women and families in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The event, held under the banner of the “Renewed Hope Year-End Intervention,” seeks to alleviate the economic challenges faced by women and other vulnerable groups.
Speaking at the flag-off ceremony, yesterday, Sulaiman-Ibrahim highlighted the programme’s significance in addressing pressing societal needs.
She described the initiative as a cornerstone of President Tinubu’s commitment to uplifting the welfare of women and children across the country.
“Today’s event reflects President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s mission to address the pressing needs of vulnerable groups. This initiative marks the beginning of a new era, one where no one is left behind,” the minister stated.
She further announced that the programme would be expanded nationwide, emphasising the pivotal role of women in realizing President Tinubu’s vision for a $1 trillion economy.
According to the minister, empowering women across sectors such as agriculture, the creative industry, and digital enterprises is essential for transforming Nigeria’s economy and society.
“As we approach a new year, the administration remains committed to protecting and empowering women, children, and their families. Women are the backbone of our society, and their empowerment is key to building resilient communities,” Sulaiman-Ibrahim noted.
Meanwhile,the Director-General of the Maryam Babangida National Centre for Women Development, Asabe Vilita Bashir, and the National President of the Defence Police Officers Wives Association (DEPOWA), Oghogho Musa, praised the initiative as timely and impactful.
They commended the Ministry for addressing the immediate needs of vulnerable groups.
The event ended with joyous celebrations as women groups and families received packages containing rice and other essential food items.
