The Federal Government, FG, has issued a statement directly addressing what it calls “insinuations, half-truths and fake information” that suggest President Bola Tinubu’s administration is favouring certain regions of the country in the distribution of projects and appointments.
The government asserts that its actions are guided by principles of fairness, justice, and equity across all six geopolitical zones.
According to a press release by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, the administration has demonstrated an “uncommon commitment to balanced development.”

Idris highlighted several ongoing infrastructure projects, including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and the Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway, as evidence of a balanced approach.
He noted that while the coastal highway is in the South, the Sokoto-Badagry route traverses a significant portion of the North, with a breakdown showing the North accounts for 52% of the total project length and the South 48%.
Idris also provided a detailed breakdown of the approved financial allocations for projects by region, with the Northwest receiving the largest share at over ₦5.97 trillion.
This is followed by the South-South (₦2.41 trillion), North Central (₦1.13 trillion), South West (₦604 billion), South East (₦407 billion), and North East (₦400 billion).
Beyond road infrastructure, he noted the administration’s investment in other sectors.
These include the revival of the 255MW Kaduna Power Plant, the advancement of the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) Gas Project, and the expansion of oil and gas exploration in the Kolmani region.
Idris also mentioned the ongoing rehabilitation of over 1,000 primary health care centres nationwide and the securing of funding for new light rail projects in Lagos, Ogun, Kano, and Kaduna states.
He also pointed to the establishment of five new Regional Development Commissions as further proof of the President’s commitment to addressing the unique developmental needs of all parts of the country.

Idris said Tinubu’s leadership is “inclusive” and his vision is “unifying,” ensuring no part of Nigeria will be left behind.
“The Federal Character Commission (FCC) has been at the forefront of ensuring an equitable distribution of public positions and resources in Nigeria, and this video provides context on their role”, he said.
