The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested three notorious suspects linked to the brutal “one-chance” robbery and murder of prominent legal practitioner, Barrister Chigbo Mediatrix.
The arrests, which took place between January 5 and 10, 2026, followed an intensive manhunt ordered by the FCT Commissioner of Police, Miller Dantawaye.
The suspects were tracked down by the Command’s elite Scorpion Squad using advanced digital intelligence to trace the victim’s stolen mobile phone.

The suspects were apprehended in the Dei-Dei, Dakwa and Dan-Tata communities within the Kubwa area of Abuja.
They were identified as Saifullahi Yusuf, 22, a resident of Dei-Dei; his biological brother, Ishau Yusuf, 24; and Minka’ilu Jibril, also known as Dan-Hajia, who is from Kaduna State.
A fourth suspect, identified as Musa, remains at large and is currently the subject of an intensive police search.
According to the police report, the tragedy began on the evening of January 5, 2026.
At approximately 5:50 p.m., Chigbo unknowingly boarded the suspects’ black Volkswagen Golf 3 along the Kubwa Expressway.
Once inside, the suspects allegedly wound up the tinted windows and threatened her with daggers and knives, demanding a ransom for her release.
When the legal practitioner refused to comply, she was physically assaulted and pushed out of the moving vehicle at high speed.
The resulting injuries proved fatal.
Preliminary investigations revealed a chilling lack of remorse. The suspects admitted to stealing the victim’s Android phone and selling it for ₦120,000 in Dei-Dei.
The proceeds from the operation were distributed among the gang members, with Jibril receiving ₦30,000 and Yusuf taking ₦15,000, while Ishau and Musa shared the remaining balance.
During the raid, the Scorpion Squad, led by Victor Godfrey, recovered several tools believed to have been used in the syndicate’s operations.
These included five scissors and two sharp daggers, two additional knives, a long metal chain used to restrain victims, and a pair of pliers.
Police records indicate this syndicate has operated within the FCT for several years, often intensifying their activities during festive periods to target unsuspecting commuters.
Dantawaye commended his officers for their professionalism and vowed to dismantle the remaining criminal networks linked to this gang.

He urged residents to remain vigilant and avoid “unregistered” or suspicious-looking vehicles.
