The Ekiti State Government has called on school principals and head teachers to prioritise creating supportive and inclusive learning spaces where every student, regardless of their background or challenges, can thrive.
This directive was given during a three-day capacity-building training themed “Inclusive Education as a transformational tool for students’ success”, which brought together over 1,200 school principals, head teachers, and education secretaries.
In her address, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Professor Habibat Adubiaro, stated that Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s administration understands that progress is measured by how effectively it uplifts the vulnerable and disadvantaged.

She urged the participants to implement innovative strategies to ensure no child is left behind.
Adubiaro described principals and head teachers as “real change agents” on the front lines of transforming education and assured them that the government would continue to provide support and resources.
The training, according to the SSG, is designed to equip school leaders with the necessary skills and knowledge to foster a school culture that celebrates diversity, nurtures empathy, and promotes success for all learners.
She clarified that inclusive education is not just about integrating students with special needs into mainstream classrooms but about reimagining the entire school culture.
Adetoun Agboola, the Special Adviser to the governor on Special Education and Social Inclusion, commended Oyebanji for his commitment to children with disabilities.
She noted that his efforts have restored hope to many families and created opportunities for children who were previously marginalized.
Agboola also highlighted that the governor’s advocacy has earned him national recognition as the “Champion of Disabilities in Nigeria”, reflecting the state’s resolve to ensure every child has access to quality education.
