Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State has announced plans to supplement the Federal Government’s (FG) School Feeding Programme with milk for all primary school pupils in the state once the initiative resumes.
The governor made this known yesterday during the launch of the ‘Ikun Milk Day’—a weekly free milk initiative for pupils in Ikun Ekiti, organised by Promasidor Nigeria Limited as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
Promasidor is the operator of the Ikun Dairy Farm, located in the community.

Speaking at the brief ceremony in Ikun Ekiti, Oyebanji described the free milk initiative as the state’s way of complimenting the FG school feeding programme.
He emphasised the vital role of nutrition in the cognitive and physical development of children.
He noted that the inclusion of milk would enhance pupils’ health, boost academic performance, and improve enrolment and attendance in public schools.
The governor expressed appreciation to Promasidor for the initiative, assuring the company and other potential investors of his administration’s continued support through investor-friendly policies, improved infrastructure, and a secure business environment.
“Our administration remains committed to ensuring that every child in Ekiti has access to quality education and proper nutrition—two pillars of our development agenda,” he said.
Representing the Minister of Livestock Development, Idi Muktah, at the event, the Director of Corporate and Monogastric Services, Victor Egbon, hailed Ikun Dairy Farm as a model of successful Public-Private Partnership (PPP).
He praised the collaboration between the Ekiti State Government and Promasidor for transforming the farm into a productive and innovative enterprise.
Egbon also underscored the livestock sector’s importance in achieving food security, creating jobs, and increasing revenue.
He called on stakeholders across the country to replicate and scale similar initiatives in livestock development.
In his remarks, the Chief Executive Officer of Promasidor Nigeria Limited, represented by the Director of Corporate Affairs, Enom Udoma-Eniang, expressed gratitude to Oyebanji for fostering an enabling environment for the company’s operations.
He noted that the governor’s support and proactive leadership have been critical to Promasidor’s continued investment and success in the state.
Udoma-Eniang reaffirmed the company’s commitment to giving back to the host community, pledging to sustain and expand its CSR efforts in Ekiti.
