As Muslims across Nigeria join their counterparts worldwide to mark Eid-el-Fitr, several state governors have extended their felicitations and called for prayers, peace, and unity across the nation.
Eid-el-Fitr, the festival that signifies the end of Ramadan, is a time of thanksgiving, compassion, and communal solidarity.
In their goodwill messages, the governors emphasised the importance of maintaining the virtues of Ramadan beyond the period of fasting.
In Adamawa State, Governor Umaru Fintiri urged residents to uphold harmony and love while interceding for both the state and the nation.
“Our government is committed to promoting peaceful coexistence. I urge Muslims to sustain these values after Ramadan to build a prosperous and peaceful Adamawa State,” he said.

Similarly, Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris encouraged Muslims to intensify prayers for enduring peace across Nigeria, highlighting the importance of divine intervention in addressing the country’s challenges.
In Katsina, Governor Dikko Radda, who joined worshippers for Eid prayers, stressed that prayers remain a powerful tool for national transformation.
“Our collective prayers are powerful instruments for positive change. Let us continue to pray for divine intervention in overcoming the challenges facing our dear state and country at large,” he stated.
Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal used the occasion to appeal for unity and peace among citizens, emphasizing the need for collaboration to rebuild the state.
“As we celebrate the Eid-el-Fitr, I urge every one of us to carry forward the virtues of discipline, patience, and generosity that Ramadan has instilled in us.
“The challenges before us are enormous and require collective effort and cooperation to be addressed.
“Let us therefore set aside our differences, work together as one people, and support the government’s agenda for rescuing and rebuilding our dear state,” he added.
Gombe State Governor Inuwa Yahaya, who also chairs the Northern States Governors’ Forum, reminded citizens to uphold the spiritual values of Ramadan, including sacrifice, love, and obedience.
“The virtues of sacrifice, selflessness, love, and obedience to the principles of Islam that Eid-el-Fitr represents should inspire us to continue to promote harmony and peaceful coexistence in our society,” he said.
In Benue, Governor Hyacinth Alia extended his heartfelt congratulations to the Muslim community, describing Eid-el-Fitr as a time for gratitude and reflection.
“Eid al-Fitr is a moment of celebration, gratitude, and meditation. It marks the completion of Ramadan, a month devoted to prayer, fasting, and measures of kindness.
“As you gather with family and friends to celebrate this momentous day, may it be filled with joy, peace, and unity,” he expressed.
Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State underscored the values of faith, mercy, and charity as essential elements of nation-building.
“I congratulate our Muslim brethren on the successful journey of faith, sacrifice, and charity throughout the holy month of Ramadan and rejoice with them on the occasion of Eid-el-Fitr.
“It is my prayer that the virtues of faith, peace, love, mercy, tolerance, and sacrifice imbibed during the Ramadan fast shall continue to enrich and underline our individual lives and bonding as one people,” he said.
Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed called for strengthened relationships among citizens, urging tolerance and mutual respect among different ethnic, religious, and political groups.

“You should also imbibe the spirit of forgiveness, love, and respect for one another. I also appeal for tolerance, accommodation, and a sense of understanding among the various ethnic, religious, and political groups in the state,” he stated.
Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani congratulated Muslims on the completion of Ramadan, urging them to seize the occasion of Eid-el-Fitr to renew their faith and strengthen bonds of unity.
Describing the festival as a time for generosity and selflessness, he encouraged Muslims to extend charity to the less privileged and pray for peace and progress in Kaduna and the country at large.
