EFCC nabs four bank hackers in Abuja

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has announced the arrest of four suspected bank hackers in Abuja.
The spokesperson of the anti-graft agency, Dele Oyewale, in a statement Tuesday said they were arrested for alleged conspiracy, unauthorised access to banks’ computer systems and fraudulent withdrawal of depositors’ funds.
Oyewale named the suspects as Chima Anthony Nwigwe, alleged leader of banks’ hacking syndicate; Mohammed Bello Mahmud; Effiong Victor Emmanuel; The managing director, Downstone Ultimate Limited, Daminan Ali.
The EFCC spokesperson said the suspects were arrested in a sting operation in Abuja following actionable intelligence.
Ojewale said the suspects have been allegedly involved in hacking and compromising databases of commercial banks, causing fraudulent transfers and withdrawals via different digital platforms.
The spokesman added that the suspects would be charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations.
