The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared popular Nigerian real estate mogul and luxury developer, Olasijibomi Suji Ogundele, widely known as Sujimoto, wanted over allegations of money laundering and diversion of funds.
Ogundele is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Sujimoto Luxury Construction Limited, a company renowned for its high-end architectural projects and luxury real estate developments across Lagos and other Nigerian cities.
In a statement issued on Friday, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale confirmed that Ogundele, 44, is currently under investigation and is being sought in connection with serious financial crimes.
“Olasijibomi Suji Ogundele of Sujimoto Luxury Construction Limited is wanted by the EFCC in an alleged case of Diversion of Funds and Money Laundering,” the official notification reads.
The EFCC revealed that Ogundele is an indigene of Ori-Ade Local Government Area of Osun State, and his last known address is G 29, Banana Island, Ikoyi, Lagos State, one of the country’s most exclusive residential areas.
The Commission has urged the public to assist with any information regarding his whereabouts, assuring that tips can be reported confidentially through various EFCC offices nationwide or via their official contact channels.
“Anybody with useful information as to his whereabouts should please contact the Commission in any of its offices in Ibadan, Uyo, Sokoto, Maiduguri, Benin, Makurdi, Kaduna, Ilorin, Enugu, Kano, Lagos, Gombe, Port Harcourt or Abuja, or through 08093322644; e-mail: [email protected] or the nearest Police Station and other security agencies,” the statement added.
Background
Sujimoto has built a reputation as one of Nigeria’s most flamboyant developers, frequently in the spotlight for his ambitious high-rise residential and commercial projects, including the Medici and Lucrezia towers in Lagos.
The nature and scale of the alleged financial infractions have not been fully disclosed, but sources within the anti-graft agency say investigations are ongoing and that more details will be released as the case progresses.
As of the time of this report, Ogundele has not made any public statement regarding the EFCC declaration.
