A former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri has advised Nigerians against getting married because they are lonely.
The activist stated this on his social media page on Friday.
He said though loneliness sometimes makes humans think they need a spouse, but before deciding to go the whole hug and ‘scratch that marriage itch, people should opt for making friends instead.’
Reno added that people should learn to only get married when they are ready to love, provide and compromise.
His words, “Maybe you are just lonely, and the loneliness is making you think you need a spouse.
Before scratching that marriage itch, try to get out more and make friends. A lot of times, you don’t really need a spouse. You may just need a friend.
”Don’t marry because you are lonely. Marry because you are ready to love and provide and compromise.
”And when you eventually meet someone, build the ensuing relationship on something a little deeper than sex. Because a relationship built solely on intercourse is precisely like a newspaper. As soon as you finish reading it, it loses its fascination. And by tomorrow, it will be replaced with the latest edition.”
Omokri, a Nigerian author and social media influencer, was the host of ‘Transformation with Reno Omokri’, a Christian teaching TV show broadcast on San Francisco’s KTLN-TV and Detroit’s Impact Network.
As a Special Assistant to former President Goodluck Jonathan, he was noted for using social media to conduct surveys and draw attention to the projects of the Nigerian Government.
