A mother has allegedly beaten her 15-year-old son to death for stealing N200 in Warri, Delta State.
The tragic incident reportedly occurred on Thursday at Obire Street, off Cemetery Road in the rustic town.
According to an eyewitness, who did not want to be named, the boy’s hands and legs were tied by his brother, and his body was burned with a hot knife during the punishment.
The source said, ”When she realized that her son was dying, she ran out and cried for assistance.
“Unfortunately, before they arrived at the hospital, her son died.”
The source also disclosed that the woman was previously evicted from a nearby compound where she lived due to her hostile relationship with neighbours.
The source further disclosed that her late son hawked smoked fish for the mother before his death, after which he went for an apprenticeship in handset repair.
SP Bright Edafe, Delta Command Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO), when contacted for confirmation, stated that no such incident has been reported to the police.
This shocking act has left the community in disbelief, with many calling for justice for the deceased.
Authorities have yet to release an official statement, but residents are urging a thorough investigation to ensure accountability.
