The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has discredited a fraudulent press release currently circulating on social media, which falsely claims the Service has released a shortlist for a Computer-Based Test (CBT) scheduled for July 2025 as part of its ongoing recruitment exercise.
In a statement issued on Sunday by Assistant Comptroller of Customs and National Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Maiwada, the NCS described the document as fake, misleading, and not authorised by the Service.

“The Nigeria Customs Service wishes to categorically state that the said press release is fraudulent and did not emanate from us. At no time did we announce any CBT scheduled for July 2025,” Maiwada added.
Maiwada explained that the fake document contained several errors, including formatting inconsistencies and an incorrect e-signature, which clearly distinguished it from the NCS’s official communication standards.
He urged the public to disregard the false announcement and warned against engaging with or sharing unverified information.
He further emphasised that all official updates regarding the NCS recruitment process would be made available only through the Service’s official website, verified social media pages, and credible national newspapers.

The NCS assured Nigerians that it is taking steps to trace the source of the misinformation and pledged to take necessary actions against those responsible.
“We appreciate the vigilance of well-meaning Nigerians and reaffirm our commitment to transparent and credible recruitment processes,” he said.
