The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has addressed rumours circulating on social media about the non-issuance of a Certificate of National Service (CNS) to corps member Ushie Rita Uguamaye, code number LA/24B/8325.
In a statement signed by Caroline Embu, Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, the NYSC described claims that Rita was denied her certificate due to critical remarks about the government as misleading and false.
The NYSC confirmed that Rita is one of 131 corps members whose certificates were withheld for valid disciplinary reasons.
Specifically, her service year was extended by two months because she failed to attend the mandatory biometrics clearance in April 2025, in accordance with NYSC Bye-Laws.

The statement emphasised that this extension is a standard procedure applied uniformly and should not be politicised.
The NYSC urged the public to understand that extending service for non-compliance is a long-standing tradition within the scheme.
The NYSC reiterated its commitment to fulfilling its constitutional mandate, concluding: “Nigeria is Ours; Nigeria We Serve.”
