On the back of the recent appointment of Daniel Bwala, a former aide of ex-vice president Atiku Abubakar by President Bola Tinubu as his Special Adviser, Media and Public Communications (State House), the Senator representing Borno South, Ali Ndume, has advised Bwala to seek forgiveness from Vice President Kashim Shettima.
Bwala, a former spokesperson for the Atiku Campaign as his Special Adviser, Media and Public Communications (State House) was engaged by President Tinubu on Thursday, adding him to his media team.
The senator also said by forgetting the past utterances and actions of Bwala and appointing him, the president has shown that he is ‘a leader with a large heart, a quality that is difficult to find in many leaders today.’
During the campaign leading to the 2023 election, Tinubu had picked Shettima as his running mate, an action that led to Bwala resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress, stating that he couldn’t support a Muslim-Muslim ticket.
Thereafter, Bwala, joined the PDP and served as the spokesman of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar during the 2023 presidential election campaigns.
In response to Bwala’s appointment, Ndume, in a statement on Saturday, urged him (Bwala) to work closely with Shettima, who is also from the Borno State.
Ndume said, “Seek forgiveness from the Vice President, Kashim Shettima, whose appointment made you leave APC because he is a Muslim.
“Work closely with him (the Vice president) too as your second principal, to promote the Renewed Hope Agenda of the President.
“You should also learn from Sunday Dare and Bayo Onanuga who are long and loyal associates of Tinubu who always defend the policies of Mr President without being abusive and offensive.”
Ndume advised, “You should also learn from the likes of Hadiza Bala-Usman and the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, who defend and market Tinubu’s policies backed by facts and figures.
“Finally, you should also link up with our people at the grassroots because charity begins from home.
“Finally I wish you success in your new assignment.”
Ndume further hailed the President for appointing Bwala.
He noted that President Tinubu has demonstrated that he is a leader with a large heart through Bwala’s appointment.
Ndume stated, “I wish to commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing Daniel Bwala as his special adviser to the President on public communication and media.
“This gesture deserves serious applause, particularly given the roles played by Bwala in recent past.
“Bwala’s appointment is a rare demonstration of large-heartedness in leadership, a quality that is difficult to find in many leaders today.”
