Monday Okpebholo, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, is currently leading in the Edo State governorship election held on Saturday.
According to the results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday, Okpebholo is ahead in 16 out of 18 local government areas, having secured 244,549 votes. His closest rival, Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has so far garnered 195,954 votes. INEC announces a 3-hour recess to await results from the final 2 LGAs. Results from 16 LGAs have already been presented at the commission’s headquarters in Benin City. Collation will resume at 5 PM.
