Controversial Nigerian social media personality and transgender woman, Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju, known as Bobrisky, spent Monday night in a cell at the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex in Alagbon, Lagos State. This follows his apprehension by immigration officials at the Sème border while attempting to flee the country.
The New Daily Prime reported that Bobrisky was arrested at the Nigerian-Benin Republic border when attempting to escape from the country. He gave his passport to someone to stamp, and immigration officials recognized the name, interrogated him, and later detained him.
Bobrisky was subsequently transferred to the FCID in Lagos for safekeeping, possibly to obtain a further remand order to keep him in custody. It was uncertain whether he would be released today. The New Daily Prime was unsure whether Bobrisky had been given access to his legal team and whether the team was making efforts to secure his bail.

This latest development comes amidst a swirl of controversies surrounding Bobrisky. He was sentenced to six months in prison in April for currency misuse, but reports allege he was released after only three weeks and held in a private location, sparking accusations of bribery and preferential treatment.
Further controversy erupted when a leaked audio recording surfaced, allegedly featuring Bobrisky claiming that prominent figures had attempted to bribe him. These allegations were vehemently denied, leading to further legal complications for the social media personality.
Bobrisky is now the subject of ongoing investigations by multiple agencies, including the House of Representatives, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), and the Nigerian Correctional Service.
