Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has extended heartfelt congratulations to Honourable Alfred Aondover Emberga, the newly elected Speaker of the 10th Benue State House of Assembly (BSHA).
Emberga, representing Makurdi North State Constituency, was elected during an emergency sitting on Sunday, August 24, 2025, following the voluntary resignation of the former Speaker, Hyacinth Dajoh.
In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, Alia praised the swift and transparent process that led to Emberga’s emergence, describing it as a testament to the confidence his colleagues have in his leadership abilities and commitment to democratic principles.
The governor expressed optimism that under Emberga’s leadership, the BSHA would continue to prioritise the formulation and enactment of laws and policies aimed at improving the welfare of Benue citizens.
Governor Alia emphasised the importance of collaboration among the state’s three arms of government, executive, legislative, and judiciary, for sustainable development and effective delivery of democratic dividends. He urged the legislative arm to maintain a strong, cordial relationship with the executive and judiciary to ensure progress and prosperity for the state.
The governor also acknowledged the contributions of the outgoing Speaker, Aondona Dajoh, during his tenure, commending his dedication to the state’s legislative progress. He assured Hon. Emberga and all BSHA members of his unwavering support, pledging to work closely with the assembly to advance the collective interests of Benue’s people.
