UK Conservative leader, Kemi Badenoch has said that the US military action in Venezuela was morally “right”.
She stated she does not know the legal basis of the attack, however, she’s “glad he’s gone” because the captured Venezuela leader, President Nicolás Maduro was leading a “brutal regime”.
She stated that the move did “raise serious questions about the rules-based order”.
During BBC Radio 4’s Today programme, Badenoch mentioned the US action was “extraordinary” noting that she understood the reasons behind the decision.
“Where the legal certainty is not yet clear, morally, I do think it was the right thing to do,” she said.

The Tory leader, speaking, added: “I grew up under a military dictatorship, so I know what it’s like to have someone like Maduro in charge.”
However, she said it was right to caution President Trump against involvement in Greenland, arguing that democratic states should not be treated in the same way as Venezuela.
“What happens in Greenland is up to Denmark and the people of Greenland,” Badenoch added.
So far, the UK government has declined to criticise the US operation or assess its compliance with international law.
Meanwhile, some Labour MPs and opposition parties, including the Liberal Democrats, the Green Party and the SNP, have called on the government to condemn the action and label it unlawful.
