Popular Nollywood comic actor Olanrewaju Omiyinka, widely known as Baba Ijesha, stated that actress Iyabo Ojo once entrusted her children to his care.
He made the claim while denying allegations that he is a pedophile.
The actor spoke during his first interview since his release from prison. He appeared on the “Talk to B” podcast hosted by Biola Adebayo on Sunday.
During the conversation, he addressed the long-standing controversy surrounding his case and maintained his innocence.
New Daily Prime recalled that in 2021, comedian Damilola Adekoya accused Baba Ijesha of sexually assaulting her 14-year-old foster daughter.
The allegation sparked widespread outrage across the country and drew attention from both the public and authorities.
Following the accusation, the case went to court. In 2022, the Lagos State High Court convicted the actor and sentenced him to prison.
The judgment marked a significant moment in Nigeria’s justice system, as many observers saw it as a step toward accountability in cases involving minors.
Baba Ijesha, however, completed his sentence and regained his freedom in November 2025. His release renewed public interest in the case, with many Nigerians revisiting the events and their implications.
During the interview, the actor denied ever molesting any child. He insisted that the allegations against him were false and maintained that he had never engaged in such behaviour at any point in his life.
Furthermore, he claimed that the viral video that circulated online at the time of the incident was staged. According to him, it was set up by Princess. He expressed deep disappointment over the situation and said he felt betrayed by someone he trusted.
“Princess betrayed everyone close to her,” he said. “I have never asked her out or kissed her before.”
In addition, Baba Ijesha spoke about his relationship with Iyabo Ojo. He recalled that she once trusted him enough to leave her children, Priscilla Ojo and Festus, in his care when they were younger. He used the example to support his claim that he had never harmed any child.
“But what pains me the most about Iyabo Ojo is that she once entrusted Priscilla and her brother in my care when they were younger,” he said. “But she’s my product. I won’t speak bad of her.”
Despite his comments, he refrained from criticising Iyabo Ojo directly. His remarks suggested a mix of disappointment and restraint as he reflected on their past relationship.
Meanwhile, it is important to note that Iyabo Ojo had strongly supported Princess during the case. At the time, she publicly stood by the accuser and vowed to ensure that justice was served. Her stance contributed to the intense public attention the case received.
Overall, Baba Ijesha’s interview reopened discussions about one of Nollywood’s most controversial cases in recent years. While he continued to deny the allegations and defend his reputation, the case remained a sensitive issue for many Nigerians.
As reactions continued to emerge, the situation highlighted the lasting impact of such allegations on individuals, families, and the broader entertainment industry.
