Troops of the 12 Brigade, Nigerian Army, have repelled an armed bandits’ attack and rescued a kidnapped victim during a coordinated operation along the Oshokoshoko–Obajana corridor in Lokoja Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The operation, carried out in the early hours of 25 November, followed credible intelligence indicating that bandits were moving across the corridor with abducted persons.
Acting on the tip-off, troops deployed at the Kabba Patrol Base, working jointly with Other Hybrid Forces, launched a special ambush to intercept the criminal group.

The soldiers made contact with the bandits, who opened fire in an attempt to break through the ambush.
The troops responded with superior firepower, forcing the criminals to retreat in disarray. One bandit was neutralised during the exchange, while others fled with gunshot wounds.
A further sweep of the area resulted in the recovery of an AK-47 rifle and the successful rescue of a kidnapped victim.
The rescued individual, found weak and traumatised, was promptly evacuated to a medical facility for urgent care.
Military authorities confirmed that exploitation and pursuit operations have been intensified to track down the fleeing bandits and dismantle their network within the region.
The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining pressure on criminal groups across Kogi State and urged residents to support ongoing security operations with timely and credible information to enhance public safety.
