Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has issued a stern warning to store owners and shopping plaza operators that any establishment remaining closed on Mondays due to the sit-at-home directive from the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) will face immediate sealing.
In a recent statement, Governor Soludo emphasized the need for businesses to resume normal operations and contribute to the state’s economic recovery.
“We cannot allow the sit-at-home order to disrupt our economy any longer,” he said.
“Shops and plazas must be open on Mondays. Failure to comply will result in sealing off those establishments.”
The sit-at-home directive, which was originally announced by IPOB as a form of protest, has led to significant economic losses for many businesses in the region. Governor Soludo’s ultimatum aims to restore normalcy and encourage commercial activities in Anambra State.
Local business owners have expressed mixed reactions to the governor’s warning, with some welcoming the move as a necessary step for economic revitalization, while others remain concerned about potential backlash from pro-IPOB supporters.
As the situation unfolds, the state government is expected to intensify efforts to enforce compliance and ensure a return to normalcy in the region’s economic landscape. Further updates on this matter are anticipated in the coming days.
