Gospel event ‘The Experience’ costs soar as organizers keep faith
Pastor Ifeanyi Adefarasin revealed the 2024 edition of The Experience gospel concert cost nearly 8 times more, driven by a passion to uplift and honor God.
At a press briefing on Friday to introduce the gospel artists scheduled to perform later that evening, Pastor Ifeanyi highlighted the dedication and vision behind the gathering. She reaffirmed the importance of the event as a platform for unity, worship, and inspiration in a time of economic difficulty.
Pastor Paul Adefarasin, the event’s convener, also addressed the media, acknowledging the immense sacrifices made by key stakeholders, including gospel artists, to sustain the momentum of The Experience. He said their commitment has ensured the event’s growth and impact over its 19-year journey.
“Without their sacrifices, it would have been challenging to maintain the standard and expand this vision,” Pastor Paul stated. “The dedication of these individuals has allowed us to overcome significant obstacles.”
Economic impact and tourism boost
While the primary focus of The Experience remains spiritual upliftment, its economic benefits have become undeniable. Pastor Paul acknowledged that the concert has grown to influence Lagos’ tourism sector, attracting attendees from across Nigeria and abroad. Hotels, transport operators, and local vendors benefit significantly as participants pour into the city for the event.
“I never envisioned this economic impact,” he said. “What began as a night of worship has become a major contributor to Lagos’ tourism. Thousands travel from outside Lagos and even Nigeria to be part of this gospel music celebration.”
Call for action on education
Addressing Nigeria’s broader challenges, Pastor Paul called on the government and stakeholders to prioritize education. He warned that with Nigeria’s population projected to reach 500 million in the coming decades, neglecting education could lead to severe consequences.
“Education is critical,” he emphasized. “Without it, we’re heading for trouble. It’s time to invest in this sector to secure the nation’s future.”

Vision that became a global movement
Reflecting on the event’s journey, Pastor Paul Adefarasin described its evolution from a local gathering to a global movement. He shared that over the years, millions of worshippers have united under the open skies of Lagos’ Tafawa Balewa Square and in homes worldwide to celebrate the faithfulness of God.
“For 19 years, we’ve gathered to glorify the name above all names, Jesus Christ,” he said. “This event has transcended borders and united hearts, with one victorious declaration: Jesus Wins.”
He painted a vivid picture of the concert’s atmosphere, where glowing lights from raised hands and illuminated faces symbolize hope and unity. According to him, The Experience is more than an event—it is a sacred convergence of worship, faith, and divine power.
This year’s lineup
This year’s lineup featured a stellar array of gospel artists, including Nathaniel Bassey, Mercy Chinwo, Travis Greene, Lecrae, Frank Edwards, Moses Bliss, Limoblaze, Dunsin Oyekan, and M & Revelation. These artists expressed excitement about ministering at the event, voicing confidence in God’s power to transform lives through their performances.
The performers were united in their optimism, promising a night filled with spiritual blessings. “We believe God will show up and touch lives through our ministrations,” one of the artists said.
Testament to faith’s
Pastor Paul concluded by highlighting the enduring significance of The Experience. He described it as a celebration of faith’s resilience, a beacon of hope in challenging times, and a reminder that no matter the circumstances, Jesus Wins.
“Every song, every prayer, and every hand raised is a testament to the transformative power of faith,” he said. “This movement transcends trials and proclaims an unshakable truth. The light we carry here extends far beyond tonight.”
Moving forward
As The Experience continues to grow, it remains a vital event for both spiritual rejuvenation and societal impact. Its organizers hope to see the tradition carry on for years to come, drawing more people into an atmosphere of worship and unity.
With the rising costs and challenges of organizing such an event, the unwavering commitment of the Adefarasin family and their team stands as a beacon of inspiration. Through their efforts, The Experience remains not just a concert but a global phenomenon of eternal significance.
As the night unfolded at Tafawa Balewa Square, millions joined in worship, united by faith and the promise of a brighter tomorrow. The Experience is a reminder that in the face of adversity, the power of faith can transform lives, uplift nations, and bring people together under one banner—Jesus Wins.
