The Ondo State Police Command has apprehended a 55-year-old man, Ademola Joshua, following a disturbing report of repeated sexual abuse and incest involving a 15-year-old minor.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Abayomi Jimoh, confirmed the arrest in a statement released on Monday.
Jimoh said the arrest was triggered by a complaint from a relative, identified simply as Adewale, residing in the Ilara-Mokin community.

According to him, the illicit activities were uncovered after the family discovered the teenage victim—who is the daughter of the suspect’s sister—was pregnant.
Jimoh added that upon receiving the report on January 4, the Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, directed the case to the Command’s Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Unit for an immediate and discreet investigation.
He said preliminary findings suggest that the suspect had been engaging in unlawful sexual acts with his niece over a period of time.
Jimoh confirmed that Joshua remains in custody and will face prosecution in court as soon as the investigation is finalised.
Jimoh emphasised that this arrest is part of a broader crackdown on sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV), aligned with the reform-driven vision of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun.
“The Command reiterates its unwavering commitment to protecting the rights and dignity of women and children,” he said. “Perpetrators will be made to face the full weight of the law without compromise.”
He used the medium to thank the public for their “courageous reporting,” noting that community-led information is vital for swift intervention in domestic abuse cases.
