Members of the Oyo State House of Assembly have strongly criticised Honourable Ibraheem Shittu, representing Saki West State Constituency under the All Progressives Congress (APC), labelling him an “absentee lawmaker” with minimal participation in legislative duties.
In a joint statement released on Thursday and made available, the Majority Leader, Hon. Sanjo Adedoyin, and Chairman, House Committee on Information, Media, Public Affairs and ICT, Hon. Waheed Akintayo, accused Shittu of consistently missing plenary sessions and committee assignments.
Their statement comes in response to Shittu’s recent allegation that the Assembly secretly approved a ₦300 billion loan request by Governor Seyi Makinde during a legislative recess, an accusation both lawmakers described as misleading and baseless.
Shittu had claimed he was not informed of the session where the loan was approved, suggesting a lack of transparency in the process.

However, Adedoyin and Akintayo countered by saying Shittu’s complaint reflected his complete disconnect from his legislative responsibilities.
“He rarely attends plenary. His absence extends to all previous oversight duties and committee assignments, where his contributions are either non-existent or irrelevant,” the statement read.
They further claimed Shittu holds the poorest attendance record among the lawmakers of the 10th Assembly and criticised him for allegedly failing his constituents.
The statement concluded with a stern rebuke: “Rather than spreading misinformation, he should redirect his energy towards becoming a functional legislator and honour the mandate given to him by the people of Saki West.”
As the exchange intensifies between the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmakers and the lone APC voice, it underscores growing political tensions in the Oyo Assembly ahead of the 2027 general elections.
