The National Coordinator and CEO of SERVICOM Presidency, Nnenna Akajemeli, has emphasised the significance of Customer Service Week in recognising and celebrating frontline staff.
She noted that this celebration boosts the morale of employees across Ministries, Departments, and agencies (MDAs) of the government.
Henrietta Okokon, Assistant Director of Information and Public Relations at SERVICOM Presidency, shared that Akajemeli delivered this message during her keynote address at the 2024 Customer Service Week event in Abuja on Tuesday.
According to Akajemeli, Customer Service Week is observed annually during the first full week of October. This year’s global celebration takes place from the 7th to the 11th of October, 2024.
She highlighted that the week serves as a platform to reward employees for their exceptional service delivery at various service windows.
She also raises awareness of the importance of both internal and external customers within MDAs.
The National Coordinator explained that the theme for this year’s celebration, ‘Above and Beyond’ emphasizes the importance of delivering high-quality service that exceeds customer expectations.
Akajemeli further outlined that the objectives of Customer Service Week include recognizing the hard work and dedication of staff who go the extra mile to create positive customer experiences.
She said it also serves as a means to foster customer loyalty and satisfaction among stakeholders who utilize services provided by MDAs.
She stressed that the qualities of ‘Above and Beyond’ include empathy and understanding—addressing the emotional needs of customers without showing favouritism.
“To commemorate the 2024 Customer Service Week in Nigeria, the SERVICOM team, led by the National Coordinator, visited various MDAs, including the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology and Innovation, the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, NEMSA, NEPC, TETFUND, and NFVCB. Additional MDAs will be visited throughout the week to mark the occasion.”
