To ensure access to quality Primary Healthcare (PHC) systems, the Sokoto State Ministry of Health, in partnership with the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN) and supported by the Society for Family Health (SFH), has joined forces to prioritise healthcare services within the state.
At a meeting led by the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Faruk Abubakar, a State Steering Committee for Community Pharmacists (CPs) and Patent and Proprietary Medicine Vendors (PPMVs) was established under the IntegratE Project.
A post shared on Tuesday revealed that the committee aims to enhance coordination, provide oversight, and ensure alignment with the goals of the IntegratE Project.
During the opening remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Ibrahim Dingyadi, highlighted the importance of multi-sectoral collaboration and alignment with state health strategies.

Major key stakeholders, including PCN, NAFDAC, NDLEA, ACPN, PSN, and PPMV representatives, reasserted their commitment to ensuring the roles of CPs and PPMVs are effectively achieved.
Highlighting the overview and achievements of the project, Ummulkulsum Dikko, the State Technical Advisor for the IntegratE Project, underscored the 3-tier accreditation system and strategic areas such as family planning, integrated community case management (iCCM), and demand generation.
As the meeting continued, and while reemphasizing the government’s commitment to strengthening regulations, sustainability, policy implementation, and systems-level engagement, Dr. Abubakar officially inaugurated the Coordination Committee.
Echoing the collective commitment to effectiveness, the Regional Program Manager, Murtala Ibrahim, thanked stakeholders for their presence and continuous support.
