The Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH) has thrown its full support behind the Rivers State Government’s push for inclusive healthcare, praising Governor Siminalayi Fubara for prioritising accessible medical services and improved welfare for health workers.
The endorsement was shared on Saturday via the hospital’s official Facebook page as RSUTH commenced enrolment into the Rivers State Contributory Health Protection Programme (RIVCHPP), the state’s flagship initiative designed to widen healthcare access for residents.
RSUTH’s Chief Medical Director, Prof. Chizindu Alikor, led the hospital community in the registration exercise, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to the programme, which he described as transformative and critical to strengthening the state’s health system.

In the statement, the hospital commended Governor Fubara’s visionary leadership, noting that his emphasis on affordability, accessibility, and staff welfare is already yielding meaningful results.
The teaching hospital also extended appreciation to the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Adaeze Oreh, and the Executive Secretary of RIVCHPP, Dr. Vetty Agala, for their sustained efforts in driving the health insurance scheme to ensure that healthcare professionals receive the coverage and support needed to deliver quality care.
Recall that recently, the agency enlisted over one hundred and ten thousand beneficiaries.
RSUTH affirmed its pride in aligning with the administration’s health reforms as Rivers State works towards achieving a more robust, equitable, and people-centred healthcare system.
