About 20 newly built and upgraded Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) of Level Two have been commissioned across 16 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Niger State.
For quality and easy access to health facilities in the state, Governor Umaru Bago, at the commissioning ceremony held in Minna, Niger State, vowed to construct an additional 40 health facilities in the coming months.
Describing the project as a significant milestone initiated by his administration, Governor Bago said this initiative aims to transform the health sector and ensure rural areas, along with underserved communities, have access to quality healthcare.
According to the governor, the newly commissioned projects are part of the first phase plan, targeting the establishment of 100 Level Two PHCs within the state.

Governor Bago said the new healthcare centres are funded by the state’s Healthcare Development Fund.
To promote high standards, he announced a monthly N5 million award for centres with excellent maintenance and service.
National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) Executive Director, Muyi Aina, praised the initiative as a national model, noting it sets a new benchmark for Level Two primary healthcare.
Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA) General Manager, Aisha Abdulkadir, lauded the collaboration behind the project and revealed that the family of late Senator Idris Kuta will sponsor 100 vulnerable residents under the NiCARE scheme.
Also, the Commissioner of Health, Ibrahim Dangana, urged communities to take ownership of the centres.
