With the aim of easing mobility among patients who face challenges, the Adunni Olayiwola Foundation, a non-governmental organisation (NGO), has donated 14 wheelchairs to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH).
While disclosing this on Saturday through the hospital’s Facebook post, it was shared that the donated items were in honour of the matriarch, late Mrs Adunni Olayiwola.
Speaking at the event, Mr Seun Olayiwola, son of the deceased, explained that the gesture was part of their commitment to commemorating their mother’s life through impactful community service.
“This is something we do to honour our late mum, by giving back to society and supporting lives in ways that reflect her legacy. Our focus is to ensure these wheelchairs reach those who truly need them and cannot afford them,” he said.
Receiving the donation, the Chief Medical Director of LASUTH, Professor Adetokunbo Fabamwo, thanked the foundation for its support.
He emphasised that while the Lagos State Government continues to invest in healthcare, contributions from well-meaning individuals and organisations remain essential.

“Wheelchairs are indispensable to the smooth running of our hospital, particularly for elderly or immobile patients. This kind of support greatly enhances our ability to provide efficient care,” he remarked.
Other senior officials of the hospital were present at the ceremony, including Professor Adebowale O. Adekoya, Director of Clinical Services and Training; Mrs Olayinka Oye-Bamgbose, Director of Hospital Administration and Human Resources; Mrs Adebola Aina, Director of Nursing Services; and Dr Olayinka Olawoye, Deputy Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee (Clinical Services II).
The family representative expressed hope that the donation would make a meaningful impact on patient welfare at LASUTH.
