The Jigawa State Government has called on the media to intensify efforts in sensitising the public ahead of the statewide Measles and Rubella vaccination campaign, scheduled to commence on October 6, 2025, with a target of reaching over 2.5 million children.
Speaking during a media engagement in Dutse, the State Immunisation Officer, Shehu Ibrahim, said the Primary Healthcare Development Agency, working with the federal government, had put in place all logistics for the exercise to be held simultaneously in all 27 local councils of the state.

He noted that the campaign is designed to strengthen child health by combining protection against measles with the introduction of rubella vaccine into the state’s immunisation schedule, says Leadership report.
According to him, both diseases remain serious threats to children’s lives, hence the need for parents to present their wards for vaccination.
Also addressing participants, a facilitator, Jibril Abdussalam, emphasised that the media must play a central role in mobilising communities, driving demand for the vaccines, and ensuring transparency in the process.
Abdussalam said public enlightenment would be key to countering misconceptions and building trust in the new initiative.
