In a determined move to enforce environmental health regulations, the Kwara State Environmental Protection Agency (KWEPA) has carried out a sweeping inspection of pharmacies across Ilorin, intensifying efforts to safeguard public health and uphold environmental standards.
The operation, spearheaded by Mr Jamiu Isiaka on behalf of the Agency’s General Manager, Mr Jide Aina, zeroed in on the sanitary conditions, waste disposal systems, and overall environmental management practices of pharmaceutical outlets within the metropolis.
Dozens of premises were subjected to rigorous scrutiny, with the inspection team commending those that met prescribed hygiene and safety standards.

However, not all establishments passed muster. Several were served official notifications highlighting areas of concern, while others were handed stern warnings for flouting environmental safety guidelines.
According to the VON report, KWEPA made it clear that persistent violations would not be tolerated, stressing that repeat offenders risk sanctions following environmental laws.
KWEPA reassures provision of safety
Speaking after the exercise, Mr Isiaka reaffirmed the Agency’s commitment to protecting public health through proactive regulation.
He urged all pharmacy operators and health-related businesses to prioritise environmental compliance as a non-negotiable aspect of their operations.
Isiaka stated that similar inspections would continue at regular intervals to ensure consistent adherence to environmental protocols within the health sector.
