Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring good healthcare facilities for the people of the state, particularly mothers and children.
The governor’s affirmation was yesterday, during a meeting with the Country Director of UNICEF, Wafaa Abdelatef, and her management team in Port Harcourt.

Fubara, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Benibo Anabraba, stressed that the government will continue to provide the necessary facilities to ensure accessible and quality healthcare for all residents.
He highlighted ongoing infrastructure projects, stating, “We are constructing new zonal hospitals across the State. The Ahoada Zonal hospital will be commissioned in December and others are near completion.”
The governor expressed gratitude for UNICEF’s efforts, assuring the Country Director that the state’s Commissioner of Health, Adaeze Oreh, would help foster communication and Public-Privateboration.
Abdelatef assured Fubara of UNICEF’s continued support for the state government’s health programmes.
She commended the governor’s leadership, emphasising that Rivers State is one of the states UNICEF can showcase as an example of effective work.
The UNICEF Country Director specifically commended the effectiveness of the Oxygen Plant at Eleme Local Government Area, which operates through a Public Private Partnership.

She made a key appeal to the governor: “We appeal that the plant be solarised, and also requested the solarisation of the Newborn Care Units.”
Abdelatef assured the governor, “We are here to support your effort and assure you that you can count on our support and partnership.”
