The health initiatives titled “Cancer Awareness and ZSX Screening”, focussed on combating late-stage cancer diagnoses resulting from cultural barriers, poor access to healthcare, and others.
The campaign cut across six geo-political zones, with respective centres at Kaduna, Rivers, Ondo, Benue, Imo, and Gombe States.
During the campaign, participants underwent breast, cervical, and prostate cancer screenings, including some health teachings, among others.
Mrs. Emmanuella Arukwe, the Managing Director of NNPC Foundation , explained that “early detection significantly improves survival rates,” describing the initiative as a life-saving intervention.
It would be recalled that in February, the Foundation extended its outreach efforts with impactful healthcare and humanitarian initiatives. Through a partnership with the Nigerian Cardiac Society, the Foundation facilitated free heart surgeries for 40 patients in Abuja.
Other activities included glaucoma screenings for 291 traders at Utako Market, comprehensive health checkups for 450 residents in Garki, and the distribution of essential food, water, and medical supplies to flood victims in Borno State.
