The Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, has ordered a discreet investigation into the discovery of a decomposing body inside a vehicle parked at the National Assembly complex in Abuja.
The body of the yet-to-be-identified man was discovered on Sunday morning in a red Peugeot 406 with registration number BWR-577 BF, stationed outside the annexe gate of the legislative complex.
Sources within the Assembly suggested that the deceased was one of the labourers engaged at a construction site within the premises.

The body was initially moved to the National Assembly Clinic before being transferred to the Asokoro General Hospital, where medical personnel confirmed him dead.
Confirming the incident in a statement on Monday, the spokesperson of the FCT Police Command, Josephine Adeh, said the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of the National Assembly Division responded to a distress call and discovered the corpse already in an advanced state of decomposition.
“The body was promptly evacuated to Asokoro General Hospital, where medical personnel confirmed that it was already in an advanced state of decomposition,” Adeh stated.
She added that the Commissioner of Police (CP) has mandated a thorough probe into the circumstances surrounding the incident, with directives for officers to intensify efforts to ascertain the deceased’s identity and cause of death.
The discovery has once again drawn attention to recurring security lapses within the National Assembly complex, which is regarded as one of the most fortified facilities in the country says Premium Times report.
Despite the presence of multiple security agencies, the premises has in recent years witnessed cases of theft and other breaches.
